BE ALERT! WATCHMEN

BE ALERT BE SOBER BE WATCHFUL PEOPLE NEVER CRUMBLE IN A DAY. SIN IS DECEPTIVE AND LEADS TO BONDAGE! 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” The good news is Christ sets us FREE!

GOD gave you freedom but its your choice whom you will serve. Submit to temptation and lusts and you will be bond by your choices, actions and sins. However, if you accept Christ and willfully surrender your life to God in obedience then the truth will set you free indeed. Choose this day who you will serve. As for me and my house, we CHOOSE to serve the Lord Jesus (Yeshua). Will you commit to that with us?

God will not force Himself on you nor manipulate you to gain your love. He offers it unconditionally to you, then its up to you to choose to receive it. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS….

Sin Creates In Us a Harden Heart

Sin creates a cold heart that lacks compassion.  The more we steal the less we respect others property.  The more we do drugs the less we care about responsibilities.  The more we use pornography the less we see the quality of relationships.  Sin continues to hardens the hearts through hurt, pride, bitterness, and addictions.  A simple act turns into bigger and more perverse acts down the road (adultery, murder, stealing, covetousness) and eventually gains control over the individual, thus placing us into captivity to our sins.

Matthew 13:15 “For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’”  Matthew 19:8 “Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.” Mark 10:5 ““It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.” Ephesians 4:18″They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.” Hebrews 3:8 “do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness”

GOOD NEWS, GOD HEALS THE HARDEN HEART BACK INTO A HEART OF COMPASSION FOR OTHERS.

Ezekiel 36: 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Fall Festival Idea: The Pumpkin Gospel

The Pumpkin Gospel Presentation

http://childrensministry.com/articles/the-pumpkin-gospel-presentation

Materials needed:

  • Pumpkins — 1 pumpkin with the top already cut open;
  • For a large group presentation, precarve 4 pumpkins with different Christian symbols. (You can do simple carvings or find carvings of Jesus on the web. Crosses and hearts, dove, praying hands, etc; save the pumpkin guts to pass out to participants);
  • Sharp carving knife;
  • Large spoon for scooping out the pumpkin “guts”;
  • Bowls — filled with pumpkin guts;
  • Wet wipes — one per participant. (divide wipes into several ziplock bags for quick distribution);
  • Candles for the pumpkins;
  • Matches or butane wand lighter;
  • Bible — You might want to ask an assistant to read the verses because your hands will be a mess!!!!
  • A worship song to sing as a group.

What to Do:

Say, “A pumpkin is round and shiny on the outside. Its skin is tough and hard to puncture. It looks perfect and wonderful. Sometimes, we pretend that we are all perfect and wonderful.

But we know that’s not true. We have all made mistakes. We have all done bad things, but we keep them hidden inside thinking no one can see past our tough exteriors.

But God knows each one of us from the inside out.”

Psalms 139:1 says “For you have searched me and you know me.”

Take top off the pumpkin & begin scooping out the pumpkin. Collect in the bowl and begin passing the pumpkin guts…

Say, “God loves each one of us, but our SIN ‘the bad things we have done’ make God sad.”

Romans 3:23 says “For everyone has sinned, we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

Say, “The slimy inside of the pumpkin reminds me of the bad things we’d done that we keep hidden away inside. As you touch the slimy insides of the pumpkins, think of the wrong things you have done. These things make us feel yucky, don’t they?”

Show the pumpkin guts on your own hands and demonstrate how difficult it is to get off your hands.

Say, “No matter how hard we try, we can’t seem to get rid of those guilty feelings by ourselves. Alone, our SIN keeps a death grip on our lives. I know that when we do bad things, we deserve to be punished, to suffer and pay for our sin.”

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, (that’s bad news!” BUT there is more…” the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Say, “That is Good News! As we scrape all the slimy stringy stuff way, the pumpkin becomes clean inside.

In the same way, as we tell God we are sorry about, lying, cheating, unkind words we said that hurt others feelings — he forgives us for the wrong things we have done. He can make us clean on the inside.

How is that possible?

God sent his very own son, Jesus, down to earth to tell us how much God loves us and wants to wipe us clean of our sin. That was really good news.”

CUT INTO THE PUMPKIN WITH THE KNIFE… carve a simple smiling face.

Say, “Then Jesus took the punishment for all our sins. He did that by dying on a cross. He suffered when we should have suffered. He paid the price…when we should have paid ourselves. After Jesus died, he was buried in a tomb.

That sounds like bad news, doesn’t it?

BUT I have MORE Good News. Three days later, Jesus came out of the tomb — alive! He conquered death so that we could have life.

Believe that Jesus is God’s son and that he died on that cross to pay the price for your sin, then came back to life three days later. Tell him you are sorry for the wrong things you have done and he will forgive you.”

LIGHT THE PUMPKIN and dim the lights, too!

Say, “When he takes away all that sin, you are not only clean inside — you’re a new creation! Jesus, through God’s word, the Bible, will teach you how to live a new life God’s way.

When we have Jesus in our lives, we SHINE! It’s like having a candle inside us. We want to share the Good news to all those around us.”

Turn the pumpkin around to show the carved smiling face.

For a large group, turn the precarved pumpkins one by one as you say John 3:16.

“God so loved the world… that he gave his only son… so that whoever believes in him should not die, but have eternal life.”

Sing a worship song together.

Close with a Prayer!

Joshua got people to ask “What does this mean?” Do people ever ask you about your faith? What can we do to get people to ask us questions? Check out my video (using the link above) and see what Joshua did. Share with us something you do that causes people to ask questions.

PRIDE FILLS OUR CHURCHES

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  Many ministries today are falling apart, splitting over difference in opinions and are no longer productive for God.   Why?  Because of pride and selfishness leads to rebellion.  Pride is an inflated sense of ones personal status.  Today many that attend church have a false pride in their congregation and pastor believing they have a truth that no one else knows or they are more godly in their works compared to others.   PRIDE.

Let me tell you a story about one of the earliest churches known to mankind.   The High Priest was an awesome, loving leader full of wisdom and life.  His worship leader was hand picked just for the job of leading praise and musical performances for all to enjoy.  This leader was talking to the High Priest and had a personal relationship with Him.   I heard this was the largest church ever created in both congregation and understanding of spiritual truth.

This worship leader was created by God with special abilities and talents  just so he could lead worship and reflect the glory of the Lord in the temple.  As this worship leader was serving daily, walking and talking with many true believers and faithful priests, he decided he should lead the church and wanted to overthrow the leaders. He deceived  1/3 of the whole congregation to rally behind him because he believed he was better than the other leaders and felt he could do better than the High Priest. So he rebelled and caused a church split that lasted even to this time today.

Who was this super-spiritual person? Lucifer also known as Satan. Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

So what are fruits of pride? John 8:44″ Jesus said You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Prideful people lack integrity, are selfish and will kill others dreams so that their own personal desires prevail.

PRIDE IS RUNNING WILD IN OUR CHURCHES TODAY. BUT THERE IS HOPE!

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.

HUMILITY SETS THE CAPTIVE FREE FROM PRIDE!

Proverbs 11:2  When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.

Proverbs 29:23 A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.

James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

God: Our Creator

(Gen 1:2) the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים, מְרַחֶפֶת עַל-פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם.

God hovered over the earth as He was creating it. We are God’s creation so He will hover over (stay close to) us to protect as well.

(Deut. 32:10-11) “He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye. “Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carries them.

(ERV) … He surrounded them and watched over them. …He stayed close to them, ready to help.

Sabbath & Creation

There is a connection between the Sabbath and Creation. It is important that we believe that God is our creator, and teach this to our children. Click on the link and watch my short video.
