Sin creates a cold heart that lacks compassion.  The more we steal the less we respect others property.  The more we do drugs the less we care about responsibilities.  The more we use pornography the less we see the quality of relationships.  Sin continues to hardens the hearts through hurt, pride, bitterness, and addictions.  A simple act turns into bigger and more perverse acts down the road (adultery, murder, stealing, covetousness) and eventually gains control over the individual, thus placing us into captivity to our sins.

Matthew 13:15 “For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’”  Matthew 19:8 “Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.” Mark 10:5 ““It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.” Ephesians 4:18″They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.” Hebrews 3:8 “do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness”

GOOD NEWS, GOD HEALS THE HARDEN HEART BACK INTO A HEART OF COMPASSION FOR OTHERS.

Ezekiel 36: 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
